On How to Translate Chinese Idioms About Animals Into English
Abstract
Chinese idioms are crystallization of Chinese people’s wisdom and essence of Chinese language. They are the language material loved by people because of their conciseness, comprehensiveness and the brevity. Among them, those idioms about animal play an important role in literature and daily communication.
This thesis discusses the Chinese idioms about animals from the perspective of translation studies. First, it gives a brief survey of their origins from four aspects， namely, they generally originate from reality life, from some famous writers’ works, from some fables or myths and from some historic stories. Second, it analyzes the cultural connotation of Chinese idioms about animals from their cultural images and human being’s emotion flavor. Then, it focuses on some translation methods of Chinese idioms about animals, which are literal translation plus explanations, liberal translation, borrowing translation and avoiding translation. etc.
In a word, after having a detail analysis of Chinese idioms about animals, the author hopes all this will help the people have a much better command of it and its translation.

摘 要
漢語成語是漢語語言中的精華,由于其言簡意賅、形式簡潔，歷來是人們所喜聞樂見的語言材料。而其中大量的動(dòng)物成語，更是在人們的語言文化中占據(jù)著10分重要的地位。
本文從英譯的角度探討了有關(guān)動(dòng)物的中文成語。首先，本文從4個(gè)方面對動(dòng)物的中文成語的來源做了簡單的研究，這4個(gè)方面分別是：來源于現(xiàn)實(shí)生活，來源于名家的作品，來源于寓言和神話，來源于歷史故事等；其次，本文從文化意象和人類的感情色彩兩方面分析了動(dòng)物的中文成語的文化內(nèi)涵；然后，深入探討了4種動(dòng)物的中文成語的翻譯方法，它們是直譯加解釋法，意譯法，借用法和回避法。
總之，通過對動(dòng)物的中文成語的各方面的分析，希望人們更加了解動(dòng)物的中文成語及其英譯。
